What a great weekend, especially if you count today! This morning our vet called to tell us that Belle’s tumor was not cancer!!!! Great news.
Other good news this weekend, PACKERS BEAT THE BEARS!!
Sean and Eric (our son and grandson) returned safely from a trip to Egypt.
And I had a wonderful time speaking to a group of marketers at the Marriott Hotel about teenagers and my book “Messengers in Denim”!
I said wonderful time, because this was one of the best audiences I have ever addressed. Filled with enthusiasm and excitement they cheered, laughed, and cried! After the talk many of them sought me out to thank me, not for being a great speaker, but for paying attention to a group of people so many have others have grown to fear or at best, distrust. One young man of 18 was particularly complementary. “Thanks so much for telling people the truth about us,” he said with wet eyes. And I recalled the words of my 97 y/o mother; when I told her I was writing a book about teenagers she said, “You better say something good about them, because they are all wonderful people except, maybe a few. And everybody else talks about the few.” I was an obliging son, and did what she said; and she loves it!
Now it is my hope and prayer that those, especially the parents, who listened and those who read the book, will realize how important they are in their teens lives. And that some how this book will help them teach their kids the values they need to be men and women of character. As that happens, I will know that the time and effort I put into “Messengers in Denim”, have not been wasted. That’s why I wrote it. And thanks Mom, for the advice.
