It’s No Coincidence

I received the following note from one of my dear, young friends who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Take a minute to read it.

“I was able to speak with my physician Dr. Nancy Ostridge at church Sunday and yes my scans are clear, but I will have further testing on my thyroid and lungs due to some spots that became more noticeable with the further analysis of the scans.

“‘Cancer Shmancer how about those Monkey Bars!’* We just got word they were accepted into 20 Costco stores in the Southeast region! Yea, so spread the word Monkey Bars will be carried in the Brentwood and West Nashville locations soon.(I was at Costco yesterday and they were Demoing the new “Kids Cliff Bar”- frankly it tasted awful and the ingredient list was a mile long) I will keep you posted.

“I brought our Monkey Bars for sampling at our church during Sip and Dip. This is a great social gathering between the 8:31service and the start of Sunday School. The people loved them and I had a great time explaining the reason prebiotics far weigh out the benefits of current probiotics placed in our food and I spoke with such conviction! (I have research this so much).

“When I got to SS, we were discussing evangelism and why we are hesitant to share our story. There were lots of reasons, but mine was this, “It is not my place.” Steve Basie who led the discussion, had observed me talking with people about the Monkey Bars, and how easily and passionately I did this. He used it as an example of how we should feel about loving one another with the same conviction. Knowing that Love is given from God to us to be shared! It’s not losing ourselves, but understanding how much we are loved that is the gift to be “shared”.

“The morning also had another event, my son Mark and I were a little late to the 8:31 service, and so Mark quickly picked the pew right behind our youth minister John and his wife Christine- then John leaned back and asked us to help him serve communion- Mark did not hesitate, and there we were standing together serving others with the breaking of the bread. Even more meaningful is the fact that I served Dr. Ostridge and then knelt with her at the altar holding each other and praying together- what kids will get us into! I had some tears which caused Mark to say, ‘Mom this was a happy time.’ Thus, ‘happy tears’!”

After reading her note I was reminded once again, that there are no coincidences, things happen for a reason! It truly was a wonderful Sunday morning for my friend. Thank the Lord for His timing, and pray for my friend and her family.

*Monkey Bars are food bars with REAL food. You’ll love them!
