Just Be Nice

Some folks have thrown their natural Christmas trees on to the curb, and I am sure some of the artificial ones are already back in their boxes quitely waiting for next year. But, we are still having Christmas at our house. Today two of our grandkids are driving down from Dayton. Mary and I decided it would be a good idea to have the cousins who are still in town over for dinner tonight. Those cousins are leaving for Pittsburgh tomorrow morning while the Packer fan cousins are returning to Nashville tomorrow afternoon. So guess who will have the rest of the gang in Wednesday night! That’s what makes Christmas fun. I wish it would last all year!
Actually, after listening to Clarence in “It’s a wonderful Life” we know Chirstmas can last all year. But it won’t be easy; the way is “Just be nice.”
That’s what Thumper told us in Disney’s “Bambi” when he said, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.”
In “Ground Hog Day” Bill Murray learned, after re-living the same miserable day many, many times in Punxsutawney, that being nice changed him and the day and finally got him out of Pennsylvania.
So my prayer for all of us is that in 2011 we all take the lesson of Christmas, Clarence, Bambi, and “Ground Hog Day” to heart and just be nice.  The world will be a greater place if we do.
