Christmas Eve Legion

Christmas may be past, but I continue to think about my childhood Christmases. It seems we went to Mid-might Mass every Christmas Eve and after falling asleep on the long ride home (20 minutes) we kids all ran to the barn to hear the animals talk. But we never heard anything. We guessed they talked at midnight and not at 2 AM. Some years we would be in the barn waiting for midnight when our parents “forced” us into the car to drive to church. I remember one time we did not go to midnight mass but planned on going on Christmas Day. That night my younger brother and my 2 older sisters planned to stay up to midnight to hear the farm animals prais God in human language. We were so excited; but the excitement was short lived and one by one we fell asleep and missed the whole thing. Now as a middle age man (I know I shouldn’t lie, but I just don’t feel like an old man), I still believe if I could get to a stable or barn at midnight I could hear them speak. My spirt is willing but my body weak. Maybe next year!

I am so happy I found a link to this legend: Enjoy!
