We woke up this morning to a wonderful cooling rain. There is something about rain that I like. Of course it nourishes the garden, the lawn, and the farmers crops, but it also cleans the air, the sidewalks and if my car is out of the garage it cleans it too! But more than that, it seems to offer a forgiveness to those of us who have not been diligent about watering our gardens and lawns or even cleaning our sidewalks and cars.

Which brings up the subject of forgiveness. I just finished reading Corrie ten Boom’s book, The Hiding Place. This is an old book, first published in 1971; Corrie is long dead. She was a Christian in Holland whose family hid and helped Jews relocate during the second world war. It has been made into a movie also some years ago; I have not see it. The book is about her family’s belief in God and about God’s forgiveness as she is arrested and is sent to a concentration camp.

This is a great, easy to read, can’t put down book. If you haven’t read it you should. And you should also make sure your teenagers read it too. Anything we can learn about forgiveness can only help us live better lives, and Corrie has lots to teach us on the subject.

Read it and let me know your thoughts. If you have a book club, this is an excellent read. (If you don’t have such a club, you might enjoy starting one!)
Stay dry!
