Friday night Mary was invited by our son Sean to see George Strait! Sean had an extra ticket, and Mary loves Country! I was happy to see her off to a night of enjoyment!
I played sad when she left, but was delighted to have the chance to have dinner with son Brian, his son Bennett, and Sean’s son Matthew, at a Brentwood (or maybe Franklin), Cajun restaurant! (I can’t wait to take Mary there this Friday!) We boys had a great time, the food was super, the live music was fun, but best of all was the conversation Brian and I had with these two wonderful teens. They make me remember how blessed I am.
But Mary’s time was not so wonderful! Yes, she loved the concert, had lots of fun with Sean and Janet, but she had a hard time sitting. Let me explain. On the way to their seats Mary was hit on the right shoulder by an intoxicated man hurrying to his seat while texting! Mary lost her balance and landed hard on her back. She was able to stop her fall before she cracked her head on the floor, but not before she hit her backside on the concrete! Sitting has been painful ever since. Mary is not a complainer, and she’s taking it all in stride, but she was not very happy with the “idiot”, who knocked her over!
Mary has been upset with “texters” ever since she heard of the word! She can’t understand why anyone would text and drive, text and walk, or text in the presence of others, and neither do I! This attack enraged her. “I know how the victims of the ‘Knock Out Game’ feel” she told me. “I was walking along talking with Janet and in a flash, I was on my back on the floor!” She didn’t say, “Too bad he didn’t walk into a man hole,” but I would have said it!
She has a huge bruise and it’s expanding. Soon it will be gone, but the memory will linger. She wants me to remind everyone not to walk, drive, or eat and text! And teach your kids to have the manners to refrain from doing so!
One last thought, We didn’t have anyone texting while we were enjoying our dinner! A big “Thank You” to their parents!
